Arusha, Tanzania Travel Guide
Nestled at the foothills of Mount Meru, Arusha offers a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and adventure.
I spent over three weeks in Tanzania as a teaching volunteer and was blown away by Arusha. In Arusha, you can immerse yourself in the local culture by visiting and shopping and visiting local markets, hike beautiful mountains and explore the jungles, use it as a launchpad to explore Tanzania's most iconic destinations, including the Serengeti National Park and Zanzibar Island, and savor the beauty and simplicity of the African lifestyle.
Two of my favorite things to do in Arusha was visit the Maasai market and go on safari. Tanzania is home to the Maasai tribe and, in Arusha, you will find amazing art and souvenirs at the Maasai market, where artisans showcase their intricate beadwork and crafts. The bustling atmosphere and friendly locals at the market create an authentic and memorable experience. Tanzania is also home to world-renowned destinations like Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater, where you can witness the Great Migration and encounter the "Big Five" in their natural habitats on a Safari.
Arusha's vibrancy, genuine hospitality, and breathtaking surroundings make it an ideal destination for those seeking an authentic Tanzanian experience filled with culture and natural wonders.
